Looks Like Jon Martin Is Going To Be Playing LT For Us This Year

Looks like the coaching staff have a lot of faith in Jon Martin. At least to the naked eye it does, they have had opportunities to trade for Branden Albert, Sign Superbowl winner Bryant Mckinnie, or even Lane Johnson when they traded up in the draft. (I'm glad they picked Jordan instead) Point is they believe in the 2nd year Stanford product, and they have a few reasons to do so. First and forth most he is a Stanford product. This is relevant for 2 reasons. Number 1 the kid has the brains, and the work ethic to succeed in the NFL. This hasn't ever really been in question. Number 2, and perhaps most important, he kept Andrew Luck upright for a few years. This should count for something right? As a matter of fact the year he was coming out of college early on in the draft process he was considered by some a first rounder. Than his warts began to appear, and he began to drop on scouts boards. His main issue was a lack of strength. That's not good news if you want to be a top caliber LT in the NFL. You need strength if you want to match up with the Aldon Smiths, and Von Millers of the world. The good news is that there is something called a gym. I'm pretty sure the Miami Dolphins have one of those, with great professional athletic trainers. Another positive is something I mentioned above Martin has the work ethic and the desire to use this tools that are been offered to him so that he can get stronger. Even on his down time there have been reports that he has been in California pulling trucks, and getting stronger. Hopefully he gets strong enough to keep Tannehill upright. I believe he can. I also believe that he deserves the opportunity to prove that he can. At least going in to the preseason. We are always going to have that 2nd or 3rd rounder we can use to trade for Albert if Martin isn't cutting it before September. For now let’s let the guy put some pats on before we declare him an inept Left Tackle.
